Hello, I’m Lauren

Welcome to Mother of Waves. This is my astrology consultation business and a creative expression of my soul service. As a counseling astrologer, it is my honor to collaborate with you in understanding your natal chart as a tool for healing and alignment. My intention is to hold a nourishing and honest container to help you see yourself more clearly as a human with agency in these unsettling times.

Astrology found me through a Gen Z high school student when I was mentoring youth in an education and arts-based, social justice afterschool program. At the same time, I was diagnosed with PTSD and started EMDR therapy. In the depths of feeling lost and confused about myself, I received a profoundly resonant natal chart reading from my now mentor, Oak. Through the reading, they invited me to reflect on questions that pulled what was unconscious into the light, thus allowing deeper healing and trusting in the timing of my life. I have been studying Western tropical astrology at Oak Astrology School since 2022.

I spent the past 11 years working in higher education and am a proud union member of UCW-Colorado, CWA local 7799. I’ve managed programs that range from hydrology research to serving students interested in computer science and technology. Lately, I have been reading The New Artificial Intelligentsia by Dr. Ruha Benjamin, and taking action to protect the Tonawanda Seneca Nation’s sacred wetlands from data center development. My music taste ranges from BTS to Khruangbin. I am queer white woman and use she/they pronouns. I have Irish and English lineage. I was a public school kid and played lacrosse while studying evolutionary biology at Harvard College.

The colored pencil drawing below represents the Mother of Waves that arrived in my dreams under a Scorpio full moon, welcoming the mysterious returning and remembering. Playing with symbols and tending roots of my own lineage have helped me step off the metaphoric treadmill and into my own depths. All the ocean photos on my website were taken by me along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way in 2018.
